Finally, after a decade of writing, submitting, discarding, archiving, drafting, redrafting, rewriting and tireless editing, it felt good to have a book proposal in the post yesterday! I didn’t used to be such a perfectionist… I was a wet-behind-the-ears twenty-one year old university student when I submitted my children’s fantasy novel to publishers, and now ten years later, I’m a completely different writer altogether, with my adult literary novel out in the world. Whatever happens now, happens. It’s out of my hands! In the meantime, I’m celebrating having a book that escaped me at last!

Empty – it’s out of my hands!
